Inside, a walker is chained to a radiator. But it’s not dead. It’s sick . Its eyes are milky, but it’s crying. Black, tarry blood oozes from its eyes and mouth. It sees them. It doesn’t snarl. It speaks —a wet, gurgling whisper: “Don’t… let me… turn…”

They back away. But it’s too late. Zach, panicking, trips over a tray of syringes. A needle skids across the floor. It doesn’t pierce him, but his hand lands in the puddle of black vomit. Inside, a walker is chained to a radiator
“The water table. The rain. The walker blood seeps into the ground. It’s in the soil, Rick. It’s in the vegetables. It’s in us .” Its eyes are milky, but it’s crying
Hershel glances at Rick’s hip. No gun. Just a gardening trowel.
A wide crane shot of the prison at twilight. It looks safe. Warm. Lights flicker in the windows. But outside the fence, a single walker—the new kind—stumbles out of the woods. Its eyes glow faintly in the dark. It opens its mouth. Black fluid drips onto the dead leaves.
