The lore was thin but sticky. White Snake Afloat was supposedly the final, unreleased film of the notoriously erratic auteur, Julian Croft. He’d vanished in 1996 after burning the only print of his first film, Rats in the Walls . For decades, collectors spoke of a second film, a nautical horror shot entirely on a derelict Chinese junk boat in the South China Sea.
